In May 2025<\/strong>, the partners of the European youth project That\u2019s Clear!<\/strong> gathered in Paris for their first transnational project meeting<\/strong>.
On this occasion, Les Apprimeurs<\/strong>, project coordinator, proposed an extended programme: partners were invited to stay an extra day<\/strong> and take part in a joint conference day<\/strong> organised together with the partners of Text it Easy<\/strong>, a European project focusing on plain language in adult education<\/strong>, which was approaching its final phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative created a unique opportunity for cross-project learning<\/strong>, allowing That\u2019s Clear!<\/em> partners to benefit from the experience, tools and resources<\/strong> developed by a project already well advanced, including tested methodologies and e-learning training modules<\/strong> on plain language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two projects, one shared ambition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although Text it Easy<\/strong> and That\u2019s Clear!<\/strong> address different target groups \u2014 adults and professionals<\/strong> on the one hand, young people and youth workers<\/strong> on the other \u2014 both projects share the same core ambition:
to promote plain language as a lever for inclusion, empowerment and active participation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joint conference day was designed as a bridge between sectors<\/strong>, enabling youth organisations to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • gain a clearer overview of the state of play of plain language across Europe<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • learn from concrete practices and tested approaches<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • and reflect on how these experiences can be adapted to youth work contexts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    A full day of conferences and exchanges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Throughout the day, partners of That\u2019s Clear!<\/em> attended a series of conferences led by organisations and experts working on plain language, accessibility, literacy and inclusive communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Topics included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Plain language and access to employment<\/strong>, with examples from vocational training and job coaching for young people with disabilities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Teaching clearly in formal education<\/strong>, particularly in STEM subjects and for remigrant students;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Literacy beyond reading and writing<\/strong>, highlighting social, cognitive and linguistic barriers to understanding;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Accessible pedagogical resources<\/strong> and inclusive design principles;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Creative and non-formal approaches<\/strong>, such as theatre, storytelling and debate, to foster understanding and engagement;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Plain language and leadership<\/strong>, showing how clear communication empowers young people to express themselves and take part in public life;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Clarity and digital tools<\/strong>, questioning how technology can support learning without overwhelming users;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Assessing text clarity<\/strong>, from readability indicators to human evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      For That\u2019s Clear!<\/em> partners, this diversity of perspectives reinforced a key message:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      plain language is not a technical add-on, but a cross-cutting competence<\/strong> relevant to all youth work activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Capitalising on Text it Easy\u2019s experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      As Text it Easy<\/strong> was nearing completion, the conference also offered valuable insights into:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • what works in training professionals on plain language<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • how to structure clear, engaging and accessible learning pathways<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • and how to translate theory into practical tools and resources<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Particular attention was given to the e-learning modules<\/strong> developed within Text it Easy<\/em>, which served as concrete examples of how plain language principles can be integrated into digital training environments \u2014 an inspiration for future activities within That\u2019s Clear!<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Strengthening the foundations of That\u2019s Clear!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        By participating in this joint conference day, That\u2019s Clear!<\/em> partners were able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • build a shared understanding<\/strong> of plain language concepts and challenges,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • align their approaches before the start of project activities,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • and identify ideas and methods that can be transferred to youth-focused tools, trainings and resources<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          This extended meeting fully embodied the spirit of European cooperation<\/strong>: learning from one another, building on existing achievements, and ensuring that no project starts from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Looking ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          This experience confirmed the relevance of connecting youth work with adult education, research and innovation<\/strong>.
          For That\u2019s Clear!<\/em>, it marked a strong starting point, grounded in existing expertise while opening new perspectives tailored to young people and youth workers across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          As the project moves forward, the lessons learned in Paris will continue to inform the development of inclusive, clear and empowering communication practices<\/strong> \u2014 ensuring that information is not only accessible, but also meaningful and actionable for all.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
